Want to add more granularity to your lead management? Sub-statuses in The Layer help you drill down into the exact stage of a lead, tailored to your processes. Let’s explore how this works and how you can configure it to your advantage! 🔍

Understanding Lead Statuses and Sub-Statuses

Within The Layer, there are four fixed lead statuses:

  • New 🔄 – Fresh leads waiting to be actioned.

  • Contacted🗣️– Leads you’ve reached out to.

  • Qualified ✔️ – Leads that meet your criteria.

  • Disqualified 🚫 – Leads you’ve decided not to pursue.

To provide more detailed tracking, you can assign sub-statuses to these main statuses. Sub-statuses offer customisation and clarity, reflecting your unique lead journey.

Why Use Sub-Statuses?

  • Enhanced 🔎 visibility: Know exactly where a lead is in your sales funnel.

  • Personalisation: Align lead tracking with your specific workflows.

  • Flexibility ♻️: Create sub-statuses for each main status independently. Need the same sub-status across multiple main statuses? No problem – create it separately for each one!

Configuring Sub-Statuses

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Go to Lead Status Settings

    • Navigate to Settings ➡️ Lead Status in The Layer.

  2. View Main Statuses

    • You’ll see a list of the four fixed lead statuses: New, Contacted, Qualified, and Disqualified.

  3. Create, Edit, or Delete Sub-Statuses

    • Use the + icon to add a new sub-status.

    • Click the pencil icon to edit an existing sub-status.

    • Hit the X icon to remove a sub-status you no longer need.

  4. Assign Sub-Statuses

    • Attach sub-statuses to the relevant main status to match your processes.

Where Do Sub-Statuses Appear?

  • Lead Records: Sub-statuses are accessible from the Home tab of each lead record.

  • Work Stacks : They appear in lead Workstacks, providing a quick view of lead progress.

  • Reports: Track sub-statuses in detailed reports, such as the All Leads report, for actionable insights.

Pro Tips 💡

  • Use intuitive naming for sub-statuses to ensure clarity across your team.

  • Regularly review and update sub-statuses to align with evolving processes.

  • Leverage sub-status data in reports to refine your lead management strategy.
