Deleting Leads
Deleting leads is a powerful action that should be approached with care. This feature is typically used to remove unwanted or invalid leads, such as duplicates, outdated entries, irrelevant leads from a web portal, or leads associated with customers who have requested not to be contacted (e.g., due to GDPR compliance).
Deleting a lead permanently removes it from the system, so ensure that this step is necessary before proceeding. If you are managing leads related to GDPR or similar regulations, verify that deletion is the correct course of action to meet compliance requirements.
If you are unsure whether a lead should be deleted, consult with your team or Layer Admin to confirm.
Note: Only users with the necessary role-based permissions can delete leads.
Managing and Deleting Leads with Work Stacks
Work stacks help you monitor and manage leads, including identifying unwanted leads (e.g., from a web portal) that may need to be deleted.
How to Delete Leads from a Workstack Grid View
To delete leads from the workstack, navigate to the Grid View. Select the leads to be deleted by clicking the checkbox beside each lead’s name.
Once selected, you can choose to delete only the selected leads by clicking the Delete button or delete all leads in the workstack using the Delete All button.
When deleting, you’ll need to specify a reason, which is logged for audit purposes. You can also add extra details if necessary.
Once you confirm, a message will appear indicating the deletion is complete.
If your work stack is configured to hide deletions, refreshing the page will remove the deleted records from your view.
Accessing and Managing Lead Deletions
The Lead Management page, accessible via Settings, allows you to monitor and manage deletions.
Within this section, you can view the Deletion Queue, where flagged records are processed, typically outside business hours. If a deletion fails or isn’t processed within 48 hours, contact your Layer Admin for support.
You'll find a Lead Stats Table on the left-hand side of the Lead Management page.
This table shows useful metrics such as the number of deletions, leads without contact records, and those without contacts with valid telephone numbers. Below the table, you’ll also find an option to Remove Deletions, which can be used to clear items to be deleted from the Lead Management page.
How to Delete a Specific Lead Urgently
For urgent deletions, go to the Lead Management page via Settings. Locate the lead you wish to delete, and click the X button on the right side of its row. A confirmation prompt will appear. Click OK to finalize the action, and the lead will be deleted from the system.
