The purpose of the Net Cash Exposure by Period widget is to provide a single value that enables users, e.g. a finance team, to monitor as close to real-time as possible cash exposure value.

This assists with monitoring cash flow, providing a real-time indicative guide as to the net exposure after considering things like customer contribution (sell price), hardware funds, discounts etc.

Exposure is determined by comparing the up-front buy price and up-front sell price of an item.

Exposure = Buy Price - Customer Net Sell Price

Exposure (positive) occurs where an item is sold at a loss. Negative exposure occurs where an item is sold at a profit.

The value shown on the widget is the sum of the exposure values for all items that match the widget's filters (detailed below).

The widget will display a single value summarising all items within the specified range. A breakdown is provided to show the details of all items.

Filtering options

You can filter on:

  • Supplier

  • Product Type (All / Product / Service)

  • Product Category

  • Product Sub-Category

The following filtering options are also available:

Filter with Discount / HWF

Items with a discount or hardware fund applied can be excluded from the widget data completely.

You can also elect to show only items with a discount of hardware fund offset applied.

Exclude Negative Exposure

You can elect to exclude negative exposure e.g. profit-making items if you wish to only highlight positive exposure.

Only Include Invoiced Items

If this filter is enabled, only invoiced items will be included (in either draft or finalised state). If it's disabled, all items will be included.

Period

You can choose to display information for a given period. Choose a Timespan Type e.g. day, month and an Initial Span to determine period length. Please note that these options refer to calendar periods. If you wish to display in non-calendar periods, please use days as your timespan type.

The date triggers for a line are:

Products: stock allocation date to SO

Up-front services: connection date

Breakdown and export

The breakdown will display line details of filtered information. Users with the required role will be able to Export this to spreadsheet.

Click the magnifying glass icon to access the breakdown.
