What you can ask the Layer Assistant

The kinds of questions the assistant handles, with examples you can adapt.

Ask in your own words

You do not need to learn any special phrasing. Ask the way you would ask a colleague, and the assistant works out which records and tools it needs. Here are the kinds of things it is good at, with examples you can adapt.

Find and understand records

  • "Pull up the account for this customer."

  • "Who are the contacts there, and what are their numbers?"

  • "Give me the headline on this lead."

  • "Summarise this customer and anything that needs attention."

Keep on top of your work

  • "Which of my services expire in the next 60 days?"

  • "Do we have any open cases for this customer?"

  • "Which customers look at risk?"

  • "Who are my top customers by revenue?"

When you open the assistant it also offers a few starter suggestions based on where you are, so you often will not need to type at all.

Product how-to

You can also ask how Layer itself works, for example "How do I create a quotation?". The assistant answers from our Help Centre, so you get the steps without leaving the page you are on.

When you would rather ask a person

If a question is better handled by a human, choose Prefer a person? Chat to support at the bottom of the assistant to open a conversation with our team.

Tips for a good answer

  • Open the record first where you can. On a customer or lead page the assistant already knows which record you mean, so "summarise this one" just works.

  • Ask one thing at a time for the clearest answer, then follow up.

  • If an answer is not quite right, rephrase it, or give it a thumbs down so we can improve it.
