Why it's here
Everything you need is already in Layer: the customer, their open cases, the quote you sent last week, the renewal that's due next month. The slow part is remembering where each of those lives and clicking your way to it. That's fine when you know the system well, and a drag when you're busy, new, or just want a quick answer between calls.
The Layer Assistant turns that around. Instead of navigating to the information, you ask for it in ordinary language and the assistant does the looking for you, then answers in the chat.
What it is
The Layer Assistant is a chat panel built into Layer. Open it from the button in the bottom-right corner of any page, type a question, and it replies using your own Layer data and our Help Centre.
It is designed to be safe to rely on from the start:
It looks things up as you, so it only ever sees the records you could already open yourself.
It is read-only today: it finds and explains, it does not create, change or delete anything.
Your company uses its own AI account, and can keep the whole conversation inside its own Microsoft tenancy with Azure AI Foundry, or on its own hardware.
