In The Layer you are able to create relationships between customer records. This could be parent-child relationship between the companies or investors etc.

It's easy to view a list of linked customer records, and navigate between records.

Creating a relationship

To create a relationship find the customer record you wish to add relationship to, then from the 'Actions' menu select 'Relationships'.

You will be presented with the following window.

Relationships can be added individually, on the first tab. The second tab lets you bulk import relationships from a spreadsheet. The third tab lets you quickly amend existing relationships.

Bulk Import

The Bulk Import tab includes a link to a template file that can be used for import. The template contains only two headers - 'Name' and 'RelationshipType', so you can create your own file if you prefer.

Bulk Management

The Bulk Management tab lets you view and remove existing relationships.

Relationship Types

By default, the available relationship types are:

  1. Parent

  2. Child

  3. Other

  4. Investor

  5. Subsidiary

These names can be overriden by administrators, from Settings - Customer Relationship Types. To do so, use the pencil icon and enter the new name in the 'Label Name' field.

You can also disable relationship types that you do not wish to be available.

Visibility of Linked Customers

You can see a summary of linked customer records on the left-side pane while a customer record is open. Clicking on View Relationships will take you to the management screen

Company Settings and View preference

The settings allow you to view the linked customers in two different ways. To customise it go to Company Settings -> Customisation then enable or disable 'Consolidated Linked Customer Relationship View.

The System defaults to consolidated view

A list view is also available. This can be enabled system-wide for all users, from Settings - Company Setup - Customisations tab - Disable Consolidated Linked Customer Relationship View.

The list view will then show for all users. Relationships can also be removed directly via this widget.
